About Us

The Training Academy is a specialist training company, focussing on two primary sectors, namely construction safety and early childhood education.

Duane established his own scaffolding company, D.G. Contracting, and served the Eastern Cape area specializing in formwork and scaffolding erection. D.G. Contracting soon became the “preferred” supplier to many large organizations because of their skill and commitment to safety.

In 2005 Duane started The Training Academy, a scaffold training specialist company, and was contracted as the preferred training supplier to Waco Africa, an international holding company (owning SGB-Cape and Form-scaff), taking care of their training needs nationally. Duane has also trained for various companies throughout Africa (15 countries to date). His travels have taken him to Egypt, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Madagascar, DRC, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana, Zambia and throughout South Africa. Furthermore, Duane has also been called on to assist with investigations relating to scaffolding fatalities to determine the cause of failure.

Duane has been active in the scaffolding and formwork fields since 1988, with experience in training, design, development, sales and marketing. In 2016, Kerry-Jade Genders, a qualified teacher, joined The Training Academy to introduce her field of expertise, namely early childhood development.
